NEWTON'S LADLE!

Image
This week we feature Netflix' Newton's Cradle, which is not the light romantic immigrant comes to America love story I was expecting...quite the contrary-it is intense, I mean really intense! Just like this:  Ladle of white miso- rice vinegar-tomato -shallot- avocado- and serrano chili broth, poured atop potato leek smoked paprika and thyme roast, with crispy sesame crusted salmon or feta crumbles, and a side salad of tuscan kale, golden cherry tomatoes, and snap peas. the next day we have lavender simple syrup, blood orange, lemon, and gin martinis and home made buckwheat bread, braised red cabbage in tomato-shiitake broth, crispy salmon and tofu with splash  of parmesan, red pepper flakes, and tomato powder. Next we have muddled rosemary, sage, blood orange, lime with Grand Marnier and Tequila  Home made fettuccine with fresh tomatoes, basil, feta and balsamic drizzle And we end with what was actually the meal of the week but I forgot to take pictures (will the chef eve...

INVENTING ANNA BANANA

Image
I started out by thinking I was going to recommend "Inventing Anna" this week, because I just love the actress Julia Garner (who is incredible at portraying complex characters)...but the banter between the reporters is annoying and the final episode is the worst. Anyway, let's start with the best of the week: Valentine's Dinner: vegetarian ramen in a tomato-miso-shiitake broth with green onion, tomato powder, and sesame sprinkles. and here's the Inventing Anna tahini-chocolate banana bread cubes floating in chocolate soup with raspberry garnish Roasted carrots and kale ramen with pickled julienne cucumbers, scallions, black sesame seeds, and  crispy fried tofu or salmon Oops missed some pix, so it's short but delish this week!

SOUPER BOWL!

Image
Lucky for me the chef prefers the kitchen to the couch, so we celebrated our Los Angeles victory with souper bowls of... heirloom tomato and poblano pepper gazpacho with a dab of basil cilantro pesto and olive oil and balsamic (the best balsamic, EVER) drizzle! Of course there were cocktails-  blood orange, lemon, rum, and cognac (note my attempt to cut down on Sunday night drinking : )  and a starting lineup of rams BEETS bengals, with pizza and salmon downfield!  (If this makes no sense it's because I have no idea what I'm talking about- but I mean c'mon, do any football fans actually read food blogs?!) roasted golden beets over basil cilantro pesto, truffle burrata and heirloom pizzette, crispy skin salmon Next up: flatbread with sauteed carrots, tuscan kale, melted cheese or steak, tomato powder sprinkle molten chocolate souffle with passion fruit sauce! and then: green lentils and eggplant, orange zest kale salad,  crispy skin salmon or truffle burrata wit...

OLYMPICS IN THE MIX!

Image
The birthday boy really outdid himself this week! We start off with Shaun White Rice spiced with Michaela Saffron and topped with Nathan Chen Julienne! (Surrounded by snap peas, broccoli, romanesco, cheesey roasted mushrooms, and a basil garlic sauce)! Which was paired with muddled mint, sage, and lime with coconut rum, cachaca, and mezcal. Next we have passionfruit syrup, coconut powder, lime, rum, and tequila Roasted romanesco and beet salad with lemon-tahini dressing, and spinach pie. With Marko in town for the bday boy, we had an olympic style cousin pile up (Joey, Nathan, and Marko)! And of course in this photo op with Maya, Marko, and boobini,  the Chef just can't resist sneaking in fulfillment for his ear fetish! Caught in the act! Muddled curry leaves, lime, orange liqueur, and tequila hamachi sashimi and smoked paprika on a crisp water cracker Chana dal with fried curry leaves, black sesame and cumin seeds which were poured into... Winner of the week! Olympic-sized ...
