Episode 3. HERB YOUR ENTHUSIASM!
Curb is back! I know it's not everyone's cup of tea (the chef included), but the west LA jewish humor never fails to leave me in stitches. Plus the latest episode features the Brentwood Country Mart, and who doesn't love those season-salted fries?! So it's been an Herb-Curb week that starts with...
Laventini-lavendar herb simple syrup, lime juice and gin
celery-leek-fresno chili bulgar couscous, heirloom tomato coulis, cumin-smoked paprika roasted carrots, tuscan kale and shallot balsamic salad, topped with feta
thyme-herbed salmon with crispy skin (substitute for feta)
And on the next day:
Dry yellow nectarine simple syrup muddled with lemon, Pyrat rum and Reposado tequila,
and a touch of cardamom.
Tuscan kale curry over toasted afghan flatbread, topped with fried chickpeas and curry leaves and fried marinated tofu, sprinkled with cilantro and mint herbs!
and for the grand finale...
wild sage lime and tangerine margarita
And, in honor of my favorite Curb episode where Larry hires a prostitute so he
can avoid LA traffic and use the carpool lane, we have a:
Diamond lane of sage chipotle cheesy thyme and sage polenta, topped with grilled corn kernels, smoked paprika and lime, on top of cilantro herb-poblano-avocado-roasted garlic crema
with charred spicy broccoli and smoky mushrooms.
For dessert we have Julie Mosk's famous pumpkin-oatmeal
chocolate chip cookies, which are the only thing
I make that the chef will actually eat (thanks JM!)
And can you believe it? Marko's costume was the sign "Please Curb Your Dog!" I mean, c'mon what are the chances-as Milan Kundera says, you have to take a moment to appreciate coincidences!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYBODY!
